The iPad X Grip CaseOregon City, OR (PRWEB) – Two Portland based photographers have created the first truly universal iPad mounting case, making all other mounting cases obsolete. The X Grip is an Apple iPad case designed around a standard ¼” threaded mount which can be used in combination with hundreds of inexpensive and readily available attachments. It functions as the application of every other grip case made for the iPad, in one sleek, minimal design.

The fundamental design feature of this Apple iPad case is a 1/4″ threaded brass insert, which is found in literally hundreds of inexpensive third party attachments. Like the Apple iPod and iPhone, the iPad is suited for unlimited everyday tasks with specially designed Apps. The iPad Clamp can be used with tripods, microphone stands, video grip equipment, wall mounts or anything else with the standard ¼” thread. This makes the functions of the case endless: from solo artists to major rock concerts, home use to a doctor’s office, studio photography to Hollywood movie sets, airline pilots to uses in the International Space Station, there is literally nothing the X Grip cannot do.

The idea came from the disappointment we’ve all experienced, by purchasing a certain case or stand for a single application, and then having to go out and purchase more units for other functions and applications. With our case, one product does the trick. It’s sleek and simple, and costs a fraction of most iPad mounts currently on the market.

Nick Curteman and Tom Baker are two Portland Oregon-based photographers, who teamed up to design the X Grip. Their product website can be found at http://www.xgripcase.com/.

If you’d like more information about the X Grip, or to schedule an interview with Nick Curteman, please call 503/781-3320 or email nick(at)xgripcase(dot)com.

Rule the Kitchen with RecipePad

The iPad’s dominance in the industry has made it more than just a simple tablet PC but rather a companion in our daily lives. With the increasing number of apps there is always be an app just for everything. Among these apps is dedicated to the culinary arts. The latest app known as the RecipePad is suitable for creating and saving recipes.

For those of you who got a Mac and use an app called as the MacGourment or Yummy Soup, you can get the best from both worlds. These files can easily be moved from your desktop to the iPad through the use of iTunes.  In many ways it is a pain to have physically connected the device to a computer just to get the files transferred.

The interface of the RecipePad is easy to use. You can easily follow the instructions and viewing the ingredients of a recipe is a breeze. If you want to create new simple recipes then the app is handy in storing a well laid out section for the ingredients, cook time and procedures. You can also tag a photo in the cook time and rate how difficult the meal is to prepare. The recipes pull up two number pads that includes a traditional 10-digit keypad as well as another nine digits all devoted to fractions. There’s also another interface for documenting the cooking procedure couple with a timer.

The RecipePad in some ways is a great app for creating recipes from scratch. The only downside is that it feels constrained since you must type every ingredient rather than a drag down list from the web.

Posted by jwrite under iPad, iPad Accessories, iPad Apps, iPad News on Friday Nov 19, 2010

knowsy-iPad-300x225

There are plenty of board games have made it through the iPad. Some few classics like Scrabble and Monopoly have converted their popular game play through iPad’s wide screen. Here comes Knowsy, a guessing game for the competitor’s preferences. The game starts out as the VIP in which he chooses a topic among the options such as movie genres, elementary subjects, drama, music, toys and many other topics to choose from. Within those categories more specific subjects are unlock, the job of the VIP must rank them according to preference from one through five. The choices are written in playful font in a series of tiles which are slid around the screen until the choice is complete.

The other player’s job is presented on those five choices instead of ranking them they scatter them around the screen. Their objective is simple, to guess the order the VIP ranked them.  The more correct answers they give the higher the scores will be. The process repeats itself until all six players are able to compete at once.

You may not be familiar with the game but thanks to the tutorial it provides it really gives new gamers new insights on how to play the game without them being left alone with the games mechanics.

Knowsy is a solid game that is fun for the whole family and just as better when played in a group. It can be enjoyed just about everyone as long as they have the passion and interest when it comes to team based fun.

The iPad is considered to have a huge screen which gives us a lot of room for scratches and bumps on the precious screen, not to mention when you take it outside it looks like a huge mirror that reflects sunlight.

Apple designed the iPad with a glossy screen so it picks up fingerprints and reflects sunlight so easily that it becomes a habit of clearing the iPad every now and then. Luckily for us Power Support has made an anti-glare screen protector for the iPad that looks to remedy in these problematic areas.

One of the most important factor is that it comes with a matte screen protector that reduce the glare from the sun and a mirror effect on the glossy screen. The package itself sells at $24.99 and comes with one screen protector.

The Power Support screen protector can easily live up to its name. The first thing to observe was it can run as smooth as it is with a static cling of the screen protector. You can easily line it up with the home button and start laying down the screen as it sticks automatically.

Air bubbles are easily taken care with as they can easily be work out with a simple reapply technique. The Power Support Anti-Glare film easily reduces the glare. The screen protector is simple the best in offering basic prevention from scratches whilst reducing the glare reflection, and fingerprints. You can surely take your iPad in direct sunlight without being afraid of the bright light thinking you have Power Support Film taking care of the job.

So if you’re an engineering student or just somebody who is not good with numbers then this app is for you. The CalculatorHD and the Calculator XL for the iPad is designed to perform as powerful as those regular calculators but also seems to be overwhelmed by the large screen offered by the table.

The app just fill the screen with too much calculator space and may feel like a bit too much for such a big device. Calculator XL as the name implies is a very large calculator that performs basic numeric calculations and offers eight types of unit conversion and calculating tools that you can use. You can also customize the color of your calculator and the app offers no options for scientific calculation.

The app is beneficial for those who have difficult in seeing small type numbers and have a hard time in looking on to things. On the Other hand the Calculator HD or CalcPad very much the same as the Calculator XL. It offers basic calculator functionality along with some customization options and a unique set of notes to feature to save those ten calculation totals. And yet again it does not perform any scientific calculations.

The Calculator HD and the CalcPad are just the same calculators you would normally find in offices. Although they are just the same as the original ones they can still be very handy to use and are quick in giving out results. The two apps are free and can be downloaded at the iTunes.

Adobe_Ideas_iPhone_appx535

They say that ideas can easily sprout in your head like mushrooms. Most of the time weird ideas come in a form of tissue paper. But now Adobe has a real treat in store for iPhone users in the form of the Adobe Ideas. Steve Jobs and Apple may not be on the same page when it comes to allowing Adobe’s Flash technology on their iPhone line of products but that doesn’t mean Adobe is not interested in pursuing opportunities on the platform.

The company has already introduced a great number of applications like the iPhone imaging tool in the Photoshop.com app, and now it has come to this with the new Adobe Ideas delivers more creative goodness to your device.

Adobe Ideas is a brand new app for both the iPhone and iPad. They are intended to do their job as a general purpose creative notebook, integrating fine sketches and images with a whole array of vibrant images. They also have an amazing set of color scheming tools that can be used to take photos from the iPhone’s camera and add images in your library as its source.

The app is great for drawing out those ideas that pops in your head. The functions are great with brush, sizes and opacity. The features are great and there are also color schemes generators in which graphic designers will be drooling for more.  The app is especially handy to take a photo of anything and quickly edit. It is like paint but with more features that comes in handy.

The iPad has certainly changed how we read books, newspapers and even how we watch news. The need to purchase books has rapidly decrease due to the fact that many users are using iPad device to purchase and read books straight from the internet. Information is readily available in an entire library straight from our fingertips.

Not only that new feature has been added like reading books in 3D. Three Little Pigs 3D is a new title that offers the first ever digital book in 3D. The book can be read in standard 2D or 3D with the appropriate glasses. The book is obviously fun to read with 3D glasses but the fun doesn’t stop here. The digital book not only tells the story of the three little pigs but also provides neat animation on each page making it more interesting to view. It has a sliding icon on the bottom of the screen, the reader can control the animation speed and can show how fast or how slow the action takes place.

You can read the story at whatever pace that you would want and you can easily switch back and forth with the animation.  Nothing happens until you press the audio or text button since the animation is done manually. This gives the reader the freedom to go through with the story.

The concepts and interesting feature of this type of digital book is really incredible. Not only children will enjoy with it so as adults will have fun reading it to their child.

Posted by jwrite under iPad, iPad Accessories, iPad Apps, iPad News on Monday Nov 1, 2010

marvel_ipad

As of now the hottest downloadable app for the iPad is the Marvel Comics iPad. The iPad is great for comic fans out there who love to read comics and graphic novels.  The best thing for consumers is that this app is readily available to be downloaded online for free from the iTunes.

The layout of the Marvel comic’s app is as simple as anyone can use it. It is user a user friendly app that creates user’s reading experience a lot more interactive and fun. This electronic alternative to the real comics is quite real to holding a fresh copy of a real live comic book. One of the best features of this app is that Marvel’s built in “guided view mode” that imitates the effect of turning a page from an actual comic book. Throughout the app, you can experience panels of panels that feature artistic art.

Users can actually zoom in and out of the comic and even manipulate the pages to their hearts desire. Comic fans will never run out of reading materials to read since Marvel Comics has a library full of comics to read with the use of this app considering not all of their titles are for free.  The app is free and comes with an initial three pages of comic before purchasing. Comic titles are priced at $2.00 and will be permanently saved in your Marvel account. A very neat interesting feature they’ve added is that if users lose their iPad, they can still rebuild their collection since their purchase are directly saved into Marvel’s database.
