Google has opened a digital music store in a direct challenge to Apple’s iTunes and Amazon’s online shop.

Apple today has officially released its latest iTunes offering (version 10.5.1), which brings in a new $24.99-per-year iTunes Match service. With iTunes Match, users can subscribe and receive the ability to re-download songs on other devices like an iPhone or iPad. This is something Amazon’s Cloud Player has been doing for awhile now. The once super-popular ebook reading Stanza app got its final update and is now compatible with iOS 5. Amazon, which acquired Stanza in May 2009, is pushing users toward the Kindle app, though Stanza still offers a wider array of document formats and more customization options. That said, we’re kinda sad to learn this is the last update Stanza will get. I guess I can understand Amazon for taking that route but then again I’m hoping they’ll expand the capability of its own Kindle app. Read More

SAN FRANCISCO (Xinhua) — U.S. publisher Simon & Schuster said Thursday it will advance the release date of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’only official biography to Oct. 24.
It is the second time that the publisher has moved up the publication date of “Steve Jobs.” In August, the biography was scheduled to come out on Nov. 21, a big leap from the previously announced March 6, 2012.
