About three weeks after Spotify released a native iPad app for users on its premium plan, Sony is out with an iOS app for its own competitor: Music Unlimited.

Sony’s Music Unlimited is a subscription service like Spotify or Rdio that gives you endless access to its streaming library of over 15 million songs if you subscribe for a monthly fee. The app is a free download from the App Store and it comes with a 30-day free trial of the Music Unlimited premium plan. After the trial is up, you can choose to continue listening on the basic plan for $3.99 per month or the premium for $9.99 per month. One notable feature of the basic plan is it allows for playback on mobile devices, while comparable $4.99 plans from Spotify and Rdio do not.

Standard features included with the basic plan are unlimited music streaming, an ad-free listening experience for most of the genres, no skip limits, the ability to listen to content already in your locally stored library via matching and access to Sony’s music recommendation engine to discover new songs. For an extra $6 per month, premium subscribers get all of that plus individual song playback on demand, the ability manage playlists from the Music Unlimited web app, access to top charts in each genre, and a few other nifty advantages.

Sony Music Unlimited is available for iPhone and iPod touch. I’m sure an iPad app will arrive eventually unless Sony’s Tablet S miraculously ends up being a runaway success. The app is currently in select countries around the world and is expected to land in the U.S. App Store shortly.

Layton, UT, May 18, 2012 –(PR.com)– iQue Repair, LLC, www.iquerepair.com, announced the opening of its third store in Layton, Utah. This third store represents another major step in establishing a chain of Apple mobile device repair stores and for servicing the revolutionary iSmart Protection Plan for iPhone, iPad and iPod repair, www.ismartwarranty.com.

When iQue Repair owner, K.C. Kelly was asked about their decision to open another store only four months after opening in Provo, he responded, “We are following a strategic plan that responds to our customer needs. We have been servicing mobile devices from Layton and surrounding cities for quite some time now. It only made sense to answer the demand by bringing our services to them. So once again, here we are, and we’re excited to be here.”

“Davis County is one of the densest population centers in Utah and we hope to have great success in this area as the only specialist in iPhone, iPad and iPod repairs.” Kelly continued, “This new store also includes an Internet Café with free WiFi for customers who want to wait for their repairs but they still need to stay connected for one reason or another. We accomplish many of our repairs while you wait, but if you can leave it in the morning, in most cases we’ll have it ready for you before closing.”

Morgan McKell, Co-Owner of iQue also commented, “Our technicians have repaired thousands of Apple mobile devices. All of the repairs are very delicate, and if you don’t have a lot of experience repairing the iPhone, iPad and iPod, you risk damaging them further.” He continued, “We have already repaired a number of The New iPads many refer to as the iPad 3. In fact, we have found that most repair shops have not repaired any iPad 3’ due to their supply chain, lack of experience, expense or risk. We make it affordable for our customers and affordably warranty it without proof of purchase.”

McKell added, “We have already had success with the local community’s response to iQue

Posted by admin under iPad on Friday May 18, 2012

Whole Planet Foundation and BlueAvocado have teamed-up to launch a “Make Change. Not Waste.” iPhone app that rewards Whole Foods Market shoppers with coupons for green lifestyle actions, while at the same time raising awareness and funds for poverty alleviation.

Shoppers get to earn badges and coupons from a catalog of 45 green lifestyle behaviors including recycling, using a reusable bag and biking to work. After completing 10 green actions, you get one coupon from leading green brands like Nature’s Path, Alexia Foods, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, Stonyfield, Frontier Co-op and Organic Valley. Moreover, there’s an option to donate a percentage of the coupon value back to Whole Planet Foundation, which will use the proceeding to fund microlending projects in impoverished communities where Whole Foods Market sources products.

Sounds like an easy way to “go green” if you ask me. Heck, I see no risk in trying it out. Hit the link below to join this green party.

Portland, OR, May 16, 2012 –(PR.com)– The project was published by the App-Different Development Studio, makers of the popular iOS utility “Last Alert”, who seek funding to transform their business into a community-based crowdsourcing app design platform.

The basic idea is to give the general public a voice in designing apps for the iOS platform. App-Different members will be able vote on various aspects of the app design and function, as well as compete for prizes and cash awards by submitting their own ideas, artwork, and other contributions to further the development.

The App-Different team already has the framework in place for their first community designed app, “King Pong.” They’ve obtained a provisional patent on a method called “AirMotion” that they’ve created to play the game on Apple TV. As part of the kickstarter promotion, you can download the game (as is) for free. The idea is that you try out the game, start generating ideas to improve expand on it, then go to the member forums to discuss, submit ideas, and vote on suggested improvement.

If the concept appeals to you, click here to read more about how to get involved.

They offer a wide variety of backer awards, ranging from a free completed app to “Gold Star” membership, to a 7 night stay at a 4-star resort, where you are put on a “mission” to spread the word about App-Different.

There is great potential here, as having a voice in app development will appeal to many iOS users who have insight and ideas, but until now have not had an outlet to express themselves.

This very well could be “the next big thing” in app development.

Burbank, CA, May 16, 2012 –(PR.com)– Virtual Speech Center Inc., the provider of mobile applications for speech therapy, announced today the release of Multiple Meanings Library, an iPad application available for download on Apple’s iTunes App store.

The Multiple Meanings Library was created by a certified speech and language pathologist for students ages 5–15 who struggle with oral and written comprehension of words with multiple meanings.

Having knowledge of multiple meanings is critical for both oral and written communication and a successful education. Children are exposed to words that have multiple meanings on a daily basis at school and social settings. Students are expected to access their lexical dictionaries quickly enough to accurately respond to a teacher’s directions or questions; however, sometimes the teacher’s directions or explanations may contain words that have more than one meaning, making it very difficult for children with limited vocabulary knowledge to understand.

The Multiple Meanings Library can be used for students with:

- Receptive/expressive language disorders
- Word-finding problems
- Learning disorders
- Autism
- Specific language -learning disorders, etc.

The Multiple Meanings Library allows students to practice multiple meanings in the following five different types of activities:

- Auditory bombardment
- Definitions
- Picture identification
- Fill-in
- Make up sentences (with audio recording feature)

To install the Multiple Meanings Library application, please visit the Apple application store page below:

China Mobile confirms it’s talking with Apple about the iPhone

Posted by admin under iPad on Wednesday May 16, 2012

China Mobile is in talks with Apple to carry the iPhone, according to a report from Bloomberg. No agreement has yet been reached between the two companies, and China Mobile can’t predict whether the companies will be able to come to agreement in 2012, making it likely the company would start carrying the next iPhone either later this year or in early 2013.

Getting the iPhone on China Mobile will be a big deal for Apple; the Chinese carrier is the largest in the world with just about 2/3 of a billion customers (667.2 million, as of March 31st) tied to the network. If Apple were able to garner a significant number of these customers, they could pull more even with Google’s Android in terms of worldwide market share. There is obviously a market to be had in China, as people are going to great lengths to smuggle iPhones and iPads into the country.

China Mobile is in a similar situation as T-Mobile USA, with 3G bands that are incompatible with Apple’s latest iPhone. As they build out a fourth-generation network, they hope they can secure the iPhone and offer the world’s most popular smartphone to the masses. The company is testing 4G networks in select markets in 2012, and if successful will ramp into heavy rollout mode in 2013.

We’ll be sure to bring you the news as we learn more about a potential relationship between Apple and China Mobile.

San Francisco, CA, May 09, 2012 –(PR.com)– Dysonics, Inc. a provider of consumer audio solutions for mobile devices, today announced that it has secured its first private funding led by a key investor, Rawah Partners, LLC. The current funding of $750,000 in seed equity financing enables the commercial launch of Dysonics, founded by University of California, Davis (UC Davis) scientists in the University’s technology incubator known as the Engineering Translational Technology Center (ETTC).

The seed equity financing provides Dysonics with a strong cash position to launch its first consumer products and hire key additional staff to bolster its product development and market presence. Founded in 2011 by UC Davis Engineering Professor Ralph Algazi Ph.D., scientist Richard O. Duda Ph.D. and UC Davis MS Engineering graduate Robert Dalton, Jr., Dysonics is the first company to roll out of the UC Davis incubator with the receipt of this Angel equity financing. Dysonics was part of the ETTC program for less than one year.

“This investment led by Rawah Partners will accelerate our ability to bring our product portfolio to market and validates our potential to leverage the fast-growing global installed base of iPhone users to offer them a richer, more engaging listening experience and new ways to interact with their content on their device, wherever they are, with whatever headset they have,” said Jim Olson, interim CEO of Dysonics and former CEO of SkyStream Networks, sold to Ericsson.

Dysonics Chief Technology Officer Robert Dalton, Jr. added, “We aim to make our unparalleled audio quality an essential element of the mobile entertainment experience for the hard-to-reach 15 – 35 year old demographic who consume media using their mobile devices, and to open the door for businesses seeking to deploy new forms of revenue-generating media applications and content using our audio solutions on mobile platforms.”

Dysonics is developing products for reproducing three-dimensional, immersive sound over headphones. “The experience of hearing sound involves more than reproducing some acoustic vibrations at their source,” Dr. Algazi said. “The shape of the head and ears, motion of the listener, and the

iCloud is getting some photo sharing upgrades at WWDC

Posted by admin under iPad on Monday May 14, 2012

The WWDC 2012 rumors are cranking out fast now that it’s less than a month away. The latest to hit the Internet revolves around what Apple will do with iCloud. For iCloud’s first birthday, it will likely get a wealth of desirable upgrades.

Apple is apparently in the process of taking Photo Stream, a current iCloud service that lets individual users share their own most recent photos with the cloud to keep in sync on all device, and turn it into a social network of sorts. This would mean users could share not just one set, but multiple sets of photos with other iCloud users and friends can interact with and comment on them.

In addition to photos, Apple wants to switch into high gear by allowing for videos to live in the cloud. The photos you take on your iPhone are easily sent up into iCloud and back down to your other iOS devices, Mac, or PC, but up until now, you’ve been out of luck if you wanted to keep your videos in sync. That requires the tedious pre-iOS 5 process of tethering your devices to iTunes. Hopefully Apple will offer some relief this year at WWDC.

Push notifications have also been found on a beta version of iCloud.com along with web apps for Notes and Reminders that would allow iOS users (and soon Mac users) to access these common productivity tools on the Internet. The push notifications would presumably tie in with the Reminders, Mail, and Calendar apps — the latter two of which already have a home on the web.

Apple is expected to unveil these upgrades to iCloud plus iOS 6 and more details on OS X Mountain Lion at WWDC 2012.
