How to maximize your iPhone’s battery life

Posted by admin under iPhone News on Friday Jul 29, 2011

The iPhone has the best battery life I’ve ever seen in a modern smartphone, especially the iPhone 4. I can go almost two whole days under heavy use before I have to plug it into its charger. However, I’ve learned that some of my friends and acquaintances aren’t seeing the same results. If you’d like to squeeze a little more juice out of your iPhone’s battery, follow the tips below!

1. Reduce your screen brightness

Unless you like shining a flashlight on your face, you really don’t need the iPhone’s screen brightness to go over 50%. A very bright screen uses up a lot more energy, so you’ll see some gains in your overall battery life if you were to reduce its brightness to 50% or less. Simply go into Settings then Brightness, and do your best to approximate the halfway point on the brightness slider. If you find yourself move in and out of bright and dark areas, feel free to turn on the auto-dim feature so that your display will adjust itself according to available ambient light.

2. Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location Services (GPS) when not in use

It seems simple enough, but you’d be surprised how many people leave Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on when they’re not using either or both. Some users will leave Wi-Fi on, allowing the iPhone to constantly scan nearby networks if that feature isn’t turned off, and that could adversely affect battery life. GPS or location services is a little more tricky since many apps require their use. Luckily, you can toggle which apps can use it, and which apps can live without it. Open up Settings, go into Location Services and select/de-select the apps you wish to grant access to GPS.

There are some cases when Wi-Fi can be beneficial to your battery life. If you’re in an area where your network has low or poor network coverage, using Wi-Fi for web browsing, e-mail and data-intensive apps will actually help your battery life. Otherwise, if you’re in a great coverage area and you aren’t

Top 5 AT&T Smartphones

Posted by admin under iPhone News on Wednesday Jul 27, 2011

ATT customers generally had only one real choice of smartphone the past few years. If you didn’t need a BlackBerry for work, all that was left was the iPhone. It took some time for solid Android devices to hit the carrier – decent Android handsets were finding their way to T-Mobile or Verizon first – so options were limited for ATT customers.

These days, there are a number of high-end devices to choose from and it’s not just the iPhone Show at ATT anymore. There are a few good Android devices to choose from, and even Windows Phone 7 hit the scene with a handful of respectable devices, too. So if you’re in the market for a new smartphone for ATT, take a look at my top 5 picks below.

1. Apple iPhone 4

apple iphone 4 91 e1311701525983 Top 5 ATT SmartphonesIt’s the phone that has allowed ATT to set record sales numbers and activations, and it’s still the phone of choice for the carrier. The iPhone 4 is a great piece of hardware with a very sexy design. It also has the best battery life when it comes to high-end smartphones today, which is a big deal for me and most people I know in the market for a smartphone. Additionally, you’ll have access to the iTunes App Store, where there are hundreds of thousands of quality applications for just about anything you can imagine.

It has a 3.5-inch retina display (960 x 640), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a quality 5MP camera and a front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calls. While the design is very nice, with a glass face and glass backing, you might want to consider a case or sleeve for the iPhone 4 – especially if you’re the type who drops cell phones pretty often.

The iPhone 4 is still popular today even though an iPhone 5 is just on the horizon. You can pick one up for $199 or

When you have your I phone beside you, you end up taking pictures, listening to music, recording videos, watching movies or twittering on the net. Since there are so many things to do when you have an all in one phone, you also need to check the batteries.

Apple

There are few basic guidelines, which help us to keep our battery safe. First and foremost rule to protect a battery is to keep it away from moistures environment. Do not drop it and lend in different people hands. Never keep the battery for overcharging and on exhaustive discharging condition. If there are any symptoms of malfunctioning of the iPhone, consult an expert without a self-fiddling. These batteries and sets are very sensitive and fragile, it is advised to handle the iPhone with a single hand.

An iPhone battery can be made durable by taking these precautions. A lithium ion battery is a standard and high quality battery, which can easily be made to be used for a few years if a proper care and precautions is taken. There is no such battery, which can last forever; it just means that a care makes battery to last longer. Heat is a plague for a lithium battery so it should be avoided in all conditions. Intense ionization takes place in the lithium battery and heat destroys its ability of ionization. Instructions are given in the iPhone booklet to avoid the continuous exposure of iPhone to the sunlight. The battery will be sufficiently hot to get destroyed in few hours.

From  iPhoneTopic.com

There are the examples that in the after noon sun light has severely damaged iPhone battery. Leaving battery in the car exposed to sunlight can also damage the battery. Always make sure that standard charger supplied with the set charges iPhone battery. It will not only ensure you iPhone’s warranty, but also keep the iPhone safe from damage. Lithium-ion batteries need to be charged with an accurate charging rate and smooth voltage without any interruptions. Local chargers won’t provide the regulated voltage, which can slowly degrade the quality of the iPhone battery. Avoid charging iPhone battery in vehicle. These chargers are not accurate and charge the battery quickly, and it adversely affects the battery. Although Apple has developed few vehicle chargers, but these chargers are not as good as a charger provided with original equipment manufacturer. It’s true; a little care makes an accident rare.

still_life_on_blackToday Pong Research, a new research-driven company developing technologies to improve environmental health, introduced the Pong™ iPhone Case, a protective case that reduces users’ exposure to radiation from the phone’s antenna. The Pong iPhone Case is a sleek silicone skin containing a proprietary technology module that redirects cell phone radiation away from the user’s head.

The Pong iPhone case is the first product proven by FCC-certified laboratories to reduce cell phone radiation. The case reduces the specific absorption rate (SAR, a mobile industry standard of measurement) by 60% and reduces intense ‘hotspot’ cell phone radiation (Electric Field Intensity) by 85%. The Pong iPhone case is immediately available for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, retailing for $59.95 through www.pongresearch.com. A BlackBerry model will be available later this year, with models for other devices to follow.

The Pong case merges high science and breakthrough technology with contemporary industrial design. Its patented technology module employs principles of antenna theory and physics to channel the emitted radiation into a ‘chimney effect,’ pulling the radiation up and away from the phone.

Full signal strength is maintained, so that the phone’s function and battery life are not compromised. For more information on the science of the Pong Effect, see ‘How It Works’ at www.pongresearch.com.
