ATT customers generally had only one real choice of smartphone the past few years. If you didn’t need a BlackBerry for work, all that was left was the iPhone. It took some time for solid Android devices to hit the carrier – decent Android handsets were finding their way to T-Mobile or Verizon first – so options were limited for ATT customers.
These days, there are a number of high-end devices to choose from and it’s not just the iPhone Show at ATT anymore. There are a few good Android devices to choose from, and even Windows Phone 7 hit the scene with a handful of respectable devices, too. So if you’re in the market for a new smartphone for ATT, take a look at my top 5 picks below.
It’s the phone that has allowed ATT to set record sales numbers and activations, and it’s still the phone of choice for the carrier. The iPhone 4 is a great piece of hardware with a very sexy design. It also has the best battery life when it comes to high-end smartphones today, which is a big deal for me and most people I know in the market for a smartphone. Additionally, you’ll have access to the iTunes App Store, where there are hundreds of thousands of quality applications for just about anything you can imagine.
It has a 3.5-inch retina display (960 x 640), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a quality 5MP camera and a front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calls. While the design is very nice, with a glass face and glass backing, you might want to consider a case or sleeve for the iPhone 4 – especially if you’re the type who drops cell phones pretty often.
The iPhone 4 is still popular today even though an iPhone 5 is just on the horizon. You can pick one up for $199 or

In June we reported that Brian Wallace, RIM’s vice president of digital marketing and media, left the BlackBerry maker for greener pastures at Samsung. Now Samsung has poached another RIM exec, and this time it’s the BlackBerry PlayBook senior product manager Ryan Bidan. According to CrackBerry, Bidan recently updated his Twitter and LinkedIn profiles to reflect that he will soon serve as Samsung’s director of product marketing. The move comes about a week after Samsung saw one of its top execs also leave the firm. On July 11th Omar Khan, Samsung’s chief product technology officer announced that he was taking a new job with Citigroup.

During the BlackBerry World Keynote in Orlando this morning, Research In Motion announced that it is working with foursquare to include support for the social-network in an upcoming version of BlackBerry Messenger. Users will be able to share their location information as their BBM status, but RIM execs didn’t go into much detail on how check-ins will work or just how feature rich the implementation will be. The native foursquare client, for example, allows users to find nearby deals, compete with friends for check-in points, and more. RIM did not say when the client would make its debut, although we suspect it will be around the launch of its BlackBerry 7 powered Bold 9900, which will occur later this summer.

I know I phones are really convenient and high in resolution. It has a huge screen, and gives you a number of memories for you to store movies, songs, files and even surf the net. Today, the iPhone 4 Retina display uses technology called IPS (in-plane switching) — the same technology used in the Apple LED Cinema Display and iPad — to achieve a wider viewing angle than on typical LCDs.
It’s really perfect to share with your family and friends while enjoying a good movie and or when you’re on the plane. In addition, the Retina display offers four times the contrast ratio of previous models, so whites are brighter, blacks are darker, and everything is more beautiful. By developing pixels a mere 78 micrometers wide, Apple engineers were able to pack four times the number of pixels into the same 3.5-inch (diagonal) screen found on earlier iPhone models.
It’s really amazing how Apple was able to create such beautiful and convenient way to carry around a phone, a computer and mp3 in one. I love how they tried to make everything better for its consumer. The resolution is really crisp that enables you to distinguish individual pixels.
Made from the same materials used in helicopters and high-speed trains, the Retina display glass is chemically strengthened to be harder, more scratch resistant, and more durable than ever. One of the coolest things about the new iphone 4 is how it withstands dirt and oil so you don’t have to clean it all the time. It just gets better and better.
USA Solar and Digital Communications Technologies LLC, aka Muzatch, gives the iPhone its much needed battery power boost, by developing the world’s most powerful and smallest (9.8 oz) solar power station specifically for the Apple iPhone series as well as the new Smartphone, iPod and Nano.
With over 95% of all Americans using mobile phones and laptops, and over 40 million iPhone users, losing power can be very frustrating, especially when an emergency hits of any kind. Solar energy will be the best and only way to continue to operate and communicate with the various emergency agencies as well as family and friends.
Millions of Americans use the iPhone currently and so it was the first choice for developing the initial solar charger. We are currently designing other solar chargers for several additional types of mobile phones, such as the “BlackBerry,” which will be coming in the near future.

With so many people these days being quite particular about their health and weight, all the available help they can get ranging from advice and mobile devices will be highly appreciated. And knowing the ton of people who are using the iPhone or the Blackberry smartphones, here is a handy app to have the next time you go out shopping and want to analyze the nutritional facts of certain products.
FoodGauge takes four factors into consideration: fat, carbohydrates, fiber and protein. By simply entering this information into the application from the back of any nutrition label, FoodGauge provides a numerical score, ranked from five to one, that helps you choose which foods will assist with weight loss.
Fruits, veggies and lean meats (foods that are healthy and keep you full) will rank a four or five and can be consumed relatively guilt-free. Food that scores a two or one is generally full of sugar, butters and oils (empty calories that cause you to desire more empty calories) and should be eaten sparingly.
The FoodGauge app for iPhone users is now available at the Apple iTunes store for only $0.99. For Blackberry users, it is available at the Blackberry App World for $2.99.
