The once super-popular ebook reading Stanza app got its final update and is now compatible with iOS 5. Amazon, which acquired Stanza in May 2009, is pushing users toward the Kindle app, though Stanza still offers a wider array of document formats and more customization options. That said, we’re kinda sad to learn this is the last update Stanza will get. I guess I can understand Amazon for taking that route but then again I’m hoping they’ll expand the capability of its own Kindle app. Read More

Flipboard is reportedly looking to expand beyond social media and RSS feeds to include TV shows, movies and eventually ebooks to the mix. According to the company’s CEO Mike McCue, video content may be included at the end of the year. In the meantime, it’s good to hear that the popular personalized magazine will be released for the iPhone and iPod Touch users “in a few weeks.” Then, once the iPhone is cleared, I guess Android users will get their Flipboard fix too, though I’m just speculating. Popular news reading app/service Pulse just got better by integrating some of the Instapaper features. Nicholas Allegra aka Comex, whom we know as the man behind the JailbreakMe and Spirit tools, scored an internship position at Apple. After that and considering his impressive track record, we’re pretty confident he’ll get an actual paid job at Cupertino. It simply makes sense to keep a guy like Comex close to the home team and use his talents to make the iOS more secure. What’s more, he seems like a perfect guy to help Apple’s partners fully take advantage of the platform. The only question now is whether he likes the corporate environment at Apple.
