Encinitas, Calif. (Vocus/PRWEB) – Oceanhouse Media, Inc. today announced the release of its newest digital book, Dr. Seuss’s classic Fox in Socks, for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This marks the 16th Dr. Seuss digital book for the mobile app publisher, which plans to release apps for all 44 classic Dr. Seuss titles. Fox in Socks is available on Apple’s App Store for $3.99. For additional information and to listen to a sample, visit the Oceanhouse Media website.

“Fox in Socks is a classic read-aloud beginner book and our digital version is a title that has been highly anticipated,” said Michel Kripalani, Founder and President of Oceanhouse Media, Inc. “We’re proud that our apps continue to feature eye-catching graphics, easy-to-follow narratives and promote Dr. Seuss’s love of words and reading. Our next Dr. Seuss release will be I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! in early February.”

“Fox, Socks, Box, Knox. Knox in box. Fox in socks. Knox on fox in socks in box.” So begins the journey of Fox and his friend, Mr. Knox. Written in 1965, the tongue-twisting narrative takes readers on a wacky ride with Fox and Mr. Knox playing a game with rhymes that continue to increase in complexity. The famous tongue-twister in the book, “a tweetle beetle noodle poodle bottled paddled muddled duddled fuddled wuddled fox in sox, sir!” is often referenced in popular media.

The digital book has three options — Auto Play, geared toward younger readers, plays like a movie, automatically reading and turning pages; Read to Me, allows users to listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read; and Read It Myself, lets users read the book alone in its traditional form. Additional features include picture/word association, where words zoom up and are spoken when pictures are touched; individual words are highlighted and are read aloud when tapped; professional audio narration; custom background audio for each scene; and the original text and artwork of Dr. Seuss.

“Our partnership with Oceanhouse Media brings even more of Dr. Seuss’s beloved stories to children around the world,” said Susan Brandt, President of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “Fox in Socks is just as much fun in digital form, especially when the tongue-twisting verses come to life with amazing graphics and highlighted text, thereby encouraging a love of reading and language for readers of all ages.”

"Just Grandma and Me" for iPhone

Oceanhouse Media, Inc. today announced the launch of three new Little Critter digital books for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The children’s favorites Just Grandma and Me, All By Myself and I Just Forgot are now available in the App Store for only $1.99 each. The Little Critter digital books are presented in a format that is easy for young children to read. The apps contain the same playful artwork that has been a hallmark of, award-winning illustrator and author, Mercer Mayer. These “universal” apps can be used interchangeably with the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch for no additional charge and include special high-resolution graphics for devices with a Retina display.

In the humorous tale Just Grandma and Me, Little Critter and his grandmother spend the day at the beach. Little Critter tries his best to be a good helper. When his grandmother’s hot dog falls in the sand, he washes it off in the ocean. He promises to blow up the inflatable seahorse, but needs a little help in the end. The joys and mishaps of a special summer day with Grandma are all brightened by Little Critter’s sunny disposition.

As the story unfolds in All By Myself, Little Critter shows us all the things he can do on his own from tying his shoes (almost) to pouring his own juice (and only spilling a little). The endearing illustrations point out the fact that Little Critter doesn’t do everything perfectly, but he makes an effort to do the best he can!

I Just Forgot begins as the lovable Little Critter struggles to remember what he is supposed to do each day. On rainy days he remembers his raincoat but forgets his boots. On school days he gets to school on time but forgets his lunchbox. Poor Little Critter! He tries hard but hasn’t quite mastered the art of how to get through the day. Every young reader will understand Little Critter’s confusion and laugh with him from start to finish.

“I wrote the first in the series of Little Critter books over 30 years ago to address the major issues of growing up through humorous storytelling,” said Mercer Mayer, author and illustrator of the Little Critter series, “I’m very excited to partner with Oceanhouse Media and see my series evolve to the iPhone and iPad.”

Each digital book combines Mercer Mayer’s award-winning illustrations from the original book with innovative features that promote reading in young children, including highlighted picture / word associations, professional narration and custom background audio. Each digital book also includes a special mini-game where the reader is encouraged to find recurring creatures as they progress through the story (a mouse, a grasshopper, a spider, etc).

Oceanhouse Media, creators of the award-winning Dr. Seuss, Berenstain Bears, and Hay House apps, have recently seen seven of their digital books reach the #1 rank for paid books in the App Store.

What was I Scared of? for iPhone and iPadEncinitas, CA(PRWeb)- Oceanhouse Media, Inc. announced the release of two new Halloween themed eBooks for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The classic Dr. Seuss short-story What was I Scared of? is now available on the App Store for only $1.99. And one of the all-time best selling children’s Halloween books, The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano, is now available as an eBook for only $2.99. Both universal apps can be used on the iPad and iPhone for no additional charge. These apps also include special high-resolution graphics for the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G Retina displays.

What was I Scared of? was authored in 1961 by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as the beloved Dr. Seuss. Delivering a timeless message about fear and acceptance, the tale begins with a character who repeatedly meets up with an empty pair of pale-green pants. He is initially afraid of the pants, which are able to stand on their own despite the lack of a wearer. However, when he screams for help and the pants also start to cry, he realizes that “They were just as scared as I!” Eventually, the empty pants and the main character choose to no longer be in fear of one another and become good friends.

In The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, where “the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins,” Spookley is shunned until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rages, Spookley realizes “it’s fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it’s better to be a square.” Sometimes being different can save the day! Originally published in 2001, The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin has sold over a million copies to date, and has served as the basis for a Spookley the Square Pumpkin movie that has been shown every year since 2004 in movie theaters across the country and on national television networks, including both Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel. “We are delighted with the new, interactive version of Spookley on the App Store,” said Joe Troiano, author of The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. “And we are impressed with the convenient read-aloud and vocabulary-learning features that Oceanhouse Media’s technology provides.”

Both eBooks combine the beautiful artwork from the original print books with innovative features that promote reading in kids, including highlighted picture / word associations, professional narration and custom background audio.

“In anticipation of Halloween, we are excited to bring both of these perennial holiday favorites to life as eBooks for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch,” said Michel Kripalani, President of Oceanhouse Media. “These apps provide both entertainment and educational value to children in the form of fun, interactive experiences for play and learning.”
