It looks like the racing game niche will soon invade the iPhone and the iPod Touch as reports have it that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown is set to be released soon. Known as perhaps one of the classic games more familiar to us via the Nintendo DS, the game app has been confirmed by Rockstar Games.
The game has recently been confirmed for the PSP, but Rockstar just dropped a bombshell with the news that iPhone owners will be getting a piece of the action too.
A port of GTA: Chinatown Wars was recently announced for the PSP and the iPhone version should come with similarly enhanced graphics compared to the DS original, but retaining the fun touchscreen elements like the ‘rummage around dumpsters for hidden 9MM Pistols’ minigame and the realtime hotwiring required to jack certain cars.
Rockstar Games is proud to announce that Rockstar Games and Timbaland present Beaterator will be coming to the iPhone and iPod touch this fall. Developed by Rockstar Leeds, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Beaterator is a portable music-making application that allows people of all musical backgrounds and ability to create world-class beats and songs.
“The simple, pick-up-and-play nature of Beaterator lends itself so well to the Apple platforms,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are happy to deliver an application that allows for such unprecedented sharing and ease-of-use.”
Previously announced for the PlayStation Portable system, Beaterator features thousands of loops and sounds made by both Timbaland and Rockstar, and puts the power to make professional-level music at your fingertips in a format that’s portable, accessible and fun.
