When it comes to gaming devices no one does it better than Apple. With the much popularity of the iOS platform the iPhone has certainly made its name in the handheld gaming era. The one great challenge that would likely make games would be the limitations of the device. LastStandStan is a game that makes wonders playing in an iOS device. When you first start the game, you start of in a spacecraft in top down view, reminding you off the old Reagan-era top view shooters like Asteroid. By a simple tap on the screen your space shuttle will fire its weapon on the direction on which you are aiming. Tap the ship and you get to select an armament of weapons, shields and power-ups for your spacecraft. The game is pretty much cartoonish in terms of graphics but it is still fun to play with considering the game utilizes the iPhone’s gaming capacity. The game is illuminated with bright twinkling things with solid fields of color and hues. Each weapon is unique having its own set of fireworks to display with and unique enemy ship explosions making the game more entertaining and pleasure to kill boredom. The only drawback to the game would be the monotonous gameplay it has to offer. While the cool explosions and animations are good moving the ship once in a while would make it seem too repetitive. LastStandStan is still a fun game worth playing for casual gamers who would love retro-style game like Asteroids.
Another classic game is coming to the iPhone and it is Red Star. This is a classic fighting game that combines the elements of a top down shooter and fighting style game play that managed to provide some much needed nostalgia to PlayStation 2 owners when it was originally released.
The iPhone will play host to the game by offering a fresh updated look just for the smartphone and an improved control scheme to make the game play a little bit more tolerable on those thumbs that will be required to advance in the game.
