SEOUL (AFP) – Hundreds of customers lined up Friday at Apple stores as the new iPad went on sale in tech-savvy South Korea, about one month after it made its international debut.
Four of Apple’s stores in Seoul opened early to sell the tablet computer, and there were also queues outside branches in the city of network providers KT and SK Telecom, the two distributors of iPhones and iPads. Read More

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Tony Fadell, known as the godfather of the iPod, has made a new gadget with the help of a small army of engineers and designers from Apple Inc and other tech giants including Google Inc and Microsoft Corp.
Steve Jobs was honored online and off as tributes poured into a memorial website set up by Apple for its late co-founder and shops closed temporarily as workers celebrated his life.
Doors were locked and curtains drawn at Apple Stores to allow retail store employees to tune into a private memorial being held in an amphitheater at the company’s headquarters in the northern California city of Cupertino. Shops reopened at noon, two hours after the event began. Read More

In June we reported that Brian Wallace, RIM’s vice president of digital marketing and media, left the BlackBerry maker for greener pastures at Samsung. Now Samsung has poached another RIM exec, and this time it’s the BlackBerry PlayBook senior product manager Ryan Bidan. According to CrackBerry, Bidan recently updated his Twitter and LinkedIn profiles to reflect that he will soon serve as Samsung’s director of product marketing. The move comes about a week after Samsung saw one of its top execs also leave the firm. On July 11th Omar Khan, Samsung’s chief product technology officer announced that he was taking a new job with Citigroup.
